The Carolina Crusader’s Cheerleadering is a Christ-centered program that focuses on building young women up in Christ both on the field and off. Each night during practice we begin with prayer and devotions to focus our minds and spirit on Christ. We value teamwork and enjoy working together as a squad on new dance routines, stunts and cheers.
When and where do we practice?
Practices are held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights starting in July and running through the end of the season (usually around the end of October, early November). Practice times are 6-8pm.
Practices are generally held at Westminster park.
What happens at practice?
Practice generally begins with stretching. Then we will work on learning/practicing the half time dance, cheers, jumps and other required skills. Most practices will end with conditioning.
Is Cheerleading Dangerous? Do you do stunts?
The Crusaders Organization is very safety oriented. Our squad follows the rules of the NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations) for spirit teams. We may be implementing beginning and intermediate level stunts and tumbling this year based on the capabilities of the squad. Not every member will participate in the stunts or tumbling, it will depend on the skill level of each individual athlete. Know that the coaches value safety above performance every time and will ensure that all cheer activities are done with the athletes safety in mind.
What are the requirements to be on the team?
Girls must be between 12 to 18. We DO NOT hold try-outs (though the team may fill up and/or we will have to stop registrations by July 15th to get the uniforms ordered in time for the first game. Late registration will be handled on a case by case basis by the Head Coach). The Crusaders organization believes that if you are willing to put in the work, you will be a valuable member of the squad.
When and where are the games?
The game schedule with locations can be found HERE. Most games are on Saturdays, though a few this year are on Friday nights. We are a travel team, meaning some games will be here in York County at York Comprehensive High School and away games will be within a few hours drive.
How much does it cost?
There is a $75 registration fee. The player fee for the 2019 season will be announced soon.
