What is the cost to play football?

Football fees are as follows: There is a registration Fee of $75 that can be paid online (2.75% convenience fee added for online payment), by check or money order.  This should be paid as soon as possible to activate insurance coverage for your player. This is a non-refundable cost for each player. Football players who register and pay before April 1st 2016 receive a free compression shirt with their game jersey number on it ($35 after April 1st). Players who register and pay before April 1st 2016 also may suggest a number for their game jersey. Cheerleaders will receive free pom poms if registered and pay by April 1st. These items will have to be purchased after April 1st.

Participation costs are an additional $300 (non-refundable) and must be paid prior to the first game. This fee helps cover the cost of field usage for practice and games, referees, equipment and uniforms that are purchased as well as replaced every couple of years. We do offer fundraising opportunities to offset the cost of the participation fees.

How can we pay for registration?

There are a number of ways to pay for your registration. The fastest and most convenient method is to use the online payment system (2.75 % convenience fee) on the Carolina Crusader website, guaranteeing you early insurance coverage for your player/cheerleader. This is important for preseason camps and workouts in which they will participate.

You can also mail your check or money order to the Carolina Crusader PO Box. Please make these payable to Carolina Crusaders.

PO Box 256 | Rock Hill, SC | 29731

Cash is NOT a suggested form of payment.

Are there extra costs to consider during the season?

Yes there will be. Players need to supply their own cleats, mouthpiece and chin strap. Cheerleaders will need to supply tennis shoes and pom poms (pom poms are provided free if registration by April 1 2016). Also, because the Pioneer Football League does not receive public funding or is supported by a school district, we supply our own means of transportation to practices and games. There can be additional transportation costs because of these things.

Is there travel involved?

Yes.  The Crusaders are part of the Pioneer Football League. With teams in Johnson City, TN and Asheville, NC travel may be required. Each season we are required to play one home game and one away game against our opponent. The complete game schedule will be posted online for your reference.

What are the age limits for Varsity, JV and Cheer?

Junior Varsity Football – JV football in the PFL is designed for kids between 12 and 15 years old. You must be at least 12 years old to play and 100 pounds. If you are 13 years old and weigh less than 100 pounds, it is at the discretion of a parent or guardian if you would like to play. Previous football experience is not necessary.

Varsity Football – Varsity football in the PFL is designed for kids between 15 and 18 years old. Players younger than 16 can play varsity with the consent of a parent/guardian and at the coaches’ discretion. This could also happen if a Varsity roster falls below 17 active players and a player from the JV team is activated to the varsity roster.

Cheerleader – All Cheerleaders will be between 12 and 19 years of age. There is no split squad of varsity and junior varsity for cheer.

What is the process for making the team?

The Carolina Crusaders do not have roster cuts. You don’t have to make the team, just sign up! Parents: Signing your child up for Carolina Crusader Football does NOT guarantee playing time during regular season games. Your child will need to compete with other players for a starting position and playing time during the regular season. Depending on how much experience, athleticism, determination and effort your child puts forth will decide how much playing time he has!
